SEA WALLS

A seawall provides a barrier between land and water to protect against erosion.
Lakefront Seawalls can be built in several ways.  Pressure treated wood, TREX, Vinyl, Rip Rap or a combination.
Here is a little information on each:
Picture

Rip Rap

Comprised of natural rocks, a rip rap seawall is sometimes used on shores and banks to slow erosion. Rip rap looks natural and allows vegetation to grow. Marine creatures can also live in rip rap. It requires little maintenance and is considered eco-friendly.

TREX

Trex was designed with the beauty of wood decking, but not all the maintenance. Trex high-performance, eco-friendly composite boards withstand years of sun, keeping their rich color.

Vinyl

Vinyl sheet piling comes in several facia designs. The most common are corrugated profiles and the flat panel profile. The flat panel can simulate the look of a wood or concrete. It is corrosion resistant, UV resistant and impervious to marine worm damage and provides a longer lasting solution that requires almost no maintenance.
TREX

Everyone loves the natural look of wood but hates all the painting, staining and sealing. Wood decks of all types, including pressure-treated wood, ipe, cedar or redwood, require extensive upkeep. Trex was designed with the beauty of wood decking, but not all the maintenance. Trex high-performance, eco-friendly composite boards withstand years of sun, keeping their rich color.
Trex is a low-maintenance wood deck:
  • Cannot rot, split, swell, twist and fade
  • Will not crack from insect infestation
  • Does not require annual painting, staining or sealing
  • Does not splinter easily
  • Does not contribute to deforestation

Seawalls made from pressure treated lumber are sometimes less expensive than its longer-lasting alternatives such as vinyl and composites but their real beauty is unmatched.

Rip Rap Sea wall options
