Seminole County only requires a Florida Fish & Wildlife Shoreline alteration permit.
For any lake greater than 10 acres, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Aquatic Plant Management guidelines allow for homeowners to clear non-woody plants (no trees) from 50% or 50 feet of their shoreline (whichever is less) by physical or mechanical means to create an access corridor which allows for navigation to open water without a permit from the State.
However, a permit from FWC is required for the use of herbicides and
for the removal of any plants outside this access corridor.
